NIAS Press

The institute's autonomous publishing arm, NIAS Press, is a scholarly press specialized in publishing innovative research on modern Asia. The Press focuses mainly on the social sciences and history - particularly research dealing with contemporary Southeast Asia and East Asia - but is open to relevant and focused, quality publications in any field of Asian studies.

Supporting Nordic scholarship

The press is based at the NIAS, has a mandate to encourage and support Nordic Asia scholarship and is an integral part of the scholarly community both locally at the University of Copenhagen and in the Nordic region beyond. As a result, almost half the books published by NIAS in recent years have had a Nordic origin. However, NIAS Press is also a globally focused press publishing exclusively in English and with authors from every continent. Our books are available in all parts of the world and each year they are exhibited at major academic conferences as well as many smaller focused events.

Publications
Titles published at NIAS Press are all thoroughly peer-reviewed innovative research on modern Southeast and East Asia.
With a small output of around ten to twenty titles a year we can guarantee high-quality research, but we also strive to produce attractive books that are a pleasure to read.
