I have been and to an extent remain a South Asianist with an interest in India and the rest of South Asia counting myself among those who rely on empirically-informed guesswork. My work in the pipeline includes the following:

Trysts with Democracy: Political Practice in South Asia edited with Kenneth Bo Nielsen and Uwe Skoda to be published by Anthem Press on March 15, 2011. The essays “seek to examine the larger question of how democratic values are embedded in social and political nstitutions” ( My chapter discusses the career of the political leader Chaudhary Ajit Singh within a hereditary constituency paradigm.

“Being on and being in: Exposure and influence of academic experts in contemporary Denmark” to be published by Routledge around May 2011 in Livia Holden (ed.) Cultural Expertise and Litigation: Patterns, Conflicts, Narratives.
“Udupi Hotels: Entrepreneurship, Reform and Revival” co-authored with Geoffrey Gardella to be published by University of California Press in Curried Cultures: Globalization, Indian Cuisine and Urban Middle Classes edited by Tulasi Srinivas and Krishnendu Ray.

Among stranded projects an outlet-seeking article in Danish on birdwatching in India may be mentioned.
